Ingredients

  • 15 smoked streaky bacon rashers, each cut in 1/2
  • 180g pouch Merchant Gourmet Whole Chestnuts
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp Grey Poupon Wholegrain Mustard
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves, plus extra to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, gas mark , and line a baking tray with baking parchment. Wrap each ½ rasher of bacon around a chestnut and secure with a cocktail stick or small skewer. Put on the prepared baking tray and bake for 10 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, combine the maple syrup, mustard and thyme in a small bowl. Brush over the wrapped chestnuts and bake for a further 8-10 minutes until golden and sticky. Transfer to a platter, drizzle with the tray juices and scatter over extra thyme leaves, if liked. Serve warm or at room temperature.
